Megan | 31 comments That's awesome, VNF. What do you usually dress as for ComicCons? Any Hollows characters?

I haven't been to a signing yet, but I live in Michigan so there really isn't a good excuse. I plan on being in Ann Arbor for the Kick Off Signing in February. So excited for TUP!

Hollows is a little too ordinary. Me and my bff like to coordinate to do more complicated stuff. Kim saw us as night elves from World of Warcraft but the following year (and this year because we were busy) we were eredar twins. Made a Vanity Fair article cover for it, lol:

And here are a few others costumes:

Megan | 31 comments Great costumes! It looks like a lot of work. The night elves were especially cool.

Thanks! We consider it a labor of love. Just takes months of planning and work here and there but it's a fun hobby. Since she lives in NY and I live in DC it can be a challenge but we figure it out.

Thank you! Spoiler or not it gives me great hopes for February! I have been reading and reviewing junk just to get me through and the tibits (especially spoilers!) keep me sane and hopeful! Really happy dance!

Your costumes always blow my mind! You're both GREAT!

Thanks, Kathy. We're just one pair of many awesome others. That's why I love to go to these things. You never know what you'll see.

Mellifluous | 41 comments I know this is not really a music thread but is there anyone else that thinks that Gotye's 'Heart's a Mess' is spookily suggestive of the Trent/Rachel relationship to date? I can't speak for what happens after Chapter 2, but it really seems to sum up the interpersonal conflict of APB, EA and Chapters 1&2 of TUP quite nicely.

message 309: by Julia (new) - rated it 4 stars

Julia | 2 comments Hi, girls! Could you, please, help me? I`ve read the first chapter of TUP and there is one thing that I can`t understand. Here is the part, which confuses me:
“You’re burned!” he said softly, shocked, and I pulled away.
“I am so sorry,” I said, hiding it behind my back, but I could feel Jenks sifting dust down on it with the sensation of pinpricks as he checked it out himself. “I only tapped it. It shouldn’t have exploded. I didn’t use any more line strength than any other time.”
Jenks snickered and I froze, mortified as I watched understanding cross Trent’s face.
“You . . .” he started, and I flushed. “All last month?”
“Now it’s out, Rache,” Jenks said, then darted away to check out the crater.
Wincing, I nodded, but Trent’s expression was one of amusement, almost laughing as he touched my arm to tell me he thought me messing with his game was funny.
What are they talking about? About Rachel using ley line energy last month? But there is nothing unusual in it. Why didn`t she want Trent to know about it? I really don`t understand this part. Maybe I just miss something. English isn`t my mother tongue. Could you, please, explain me? I`m sorry if it`s quite obvious but I really want to get the full meaning of their dialogue. I would appreciate your help.

VampireNovelFan | 489 comments It looks like Rachel was manipulating his game while he was playing golf this whole time, but in the past it was so subtle that nobody, not even Trent, noticed it. But now that the lines are out of whack it was very obvious this time.

message 311: by Julia (new) - rated it 4 stars

Julia | 2 comments Well, it`s really obvious. I see now. I just didn`t put two and two together. I should`ve read more attentively. I thought "me messing with his game" was related to this particular case with Limbcus. It didn`t occur to me that Rachel spoke about manipulating his game all month. MANY THANKS!

Perhaps they'll start it with the book 6 discount? That starts next week.

message 322: by Regina (new) - rated it 5 stars

Regina (reginaontheroad) | 69 comments I know how it is to be on the other side, believe me. For 3 years, I've counted down the weeks, searched reviews and boards for spoilers, even purchased the EA arc on ebay. But TUP is... I can't even begin... It's just... indescribable.

After going in completely blind for TUP, and having seen major spoilers before reading the EA arc, I can say going into TUP blind was just worth every heart-wrenching moment!

Sorry, y'all. I honestly feel like I'm stealing from the experience. I'm feeling guilty already, and it's not sitting well with me... I've gone through another time to see if there are any other quotes, but I think the ones posted here + comments on VNF's review just about cover it.

Veronica (readingonthefly) I have to agree with Regina. TUP is very much worth the wait. I wish I could read it "fresh" again just to get those first-time-read-through feels all over again.

I totally know the feeling. It's very hard to keep mum and I honestly wish every fan who was as dedicated as we all are here could read it just as early. But when it's here you won't even care about the wait anymore.

Veronica G. wrote: "I have to agree with Regina. TUP is very much worth the wait. I wish I could read it "fresh" again just to get those first-time-read-through feels all over again."

Yeah but re-reading stuff is surprisingly VERY satisfying. If I didn't have my goodreads goal to meet (just 5 more to go!) I'd have read the entire thing again already. I'm actually motivated to wrap it up so I can give it one more good read before the new year. Then I'll hold out for the final version.

message 326: by Rhys (new) - rated it 4 stars

Rhys B. (rhys_b) | 3 comments The way I see it, I have until February to re-read the series, and in particular EA, to capture all the details I missed and to enjoy the anticipation.

All the readers of the ARC however already know what is going to happen, and they can't really talk about it.

I think I got the better deal :)

message 327: by Lindsay (new) - added it

Lindsay Edgar | 13 comments Instead of re-reading EA, I'm listening to the audiobook. Highly recommend!

Yup. It makes me wonder how Kim deals with this while being so connected with her readership.

Lindsay wrote: "Instead of re-reading EA, I'm listening to the audiobook. Highly recommend!"

I don't really listen to the audiobooks but I have it for this book and there are some chapters I love hearing over and over again. I really like her Al voice.

Ditto.

My reactions to 2 of the early chapters...
-I kinda miss the red halter tops...
-Hmm, that's interesting...
-OMG!
-I love Jenks!
-No way!
-Awwwww
-That is soooo cute! (Reads again)
-Awwwww
-I'm so loving this book..
-Yea.. Huh? What? Nooooo. Go back!
-What? This is awful (not referring to the book, of course)
-This is upsetting. Like really upsetting.
-Hehe, never expected that
-Ouch
-OH. MY. GOD.
-Yes!!!!!
-This is awesome!!
-NOOOOOO!!!!!
-Wait, what? (Reads again) NOOOOOO!!!!!!
-(Starts next chapter, goes back to last chapter, reads again)
NOOOOO!!!!!!

For the last book, I'm totally keeping notes on every time I literally LOL, tear up, talk (out loud like crazy person) to the characters, ask my dog if that really happened, etc. For real.

I guess you figured out I was talking about 4/5? :D

Any idea when the next teaser chapter will be released?

I'm going to read TUP again on release day. Subsequent and multiple rereads are great... but there's nothing like the first time!

Lindsay Edgar | 13 comments This is going to be an emotional roller coaster of epic proportions. Gah! Those books are sometimes hard for me to read as I tend to look ahead. I will try hard not to do that because I have a feeling all the emotional turmoil will pay off in the end.

Kritchie | 126 comments I decided to "fill" my waiting time for TUP with catching up on my sfyfy series that are about to restart in January 2014. So far I have watched Lost Girl seasons 1-3 two times, Haven Previous & Current, and Defiance. Not to forget my netwoek favs too, GRIMM all previous and current, and I am catching up on the new Dracula. Still wish TUP was out but most... of the day I can forget it and wait until I open my email....

I am dying to discuss charpter two..so many things are running thru my mind. If that is Kisten, didn't Rachel say that he was a living Vamp?! When we last saw Kisten he definetly was not living. So is the magic mis-firing connected to what ever happen to "Kisten". And dang it does this mean Rachel missed her "Bowling date" with Trent?

That's a line from TUP. ;)

message 345: by Megan (new) - rated it 5 stars

It's been awhile since I read it, and I'm holding off re-reading it until after Kim's series re-read is done (I'm currently re-reading PD too), but as I remember it, it's more of an all encompassing statement.
