And correct me if I am wrong, but I thought Kim wrote on FB that the publisher only lets one book out per year. So the last will be Feb. or Mar. 2015?

AWE!!! Well crap of toast!! That's a year, 15 weeks and 3 days till the last book comes out :(. I hope they make an exception and release the last one early? Maybe?

Kim wrote in the read-along: "And then there was Ellasbeth. Oh man, I really wanted her to be a walk-on, walk-off character, but her personality was so strong that I had to give her more. I’m trying hard now not to give spoilers for the last two books, but life is weird, and the best fiction mirrors that. Especially when children are involved."
What does she mean when she says that life is weird?! That better not mean that Trent and Ellasbeth get back together. I'd be very disappointed.

Megan, I attended one of Kim's author signings last year for Ever After and I asked her about Ellasbeth. She answered that Ellasbeth isn't the type of woman to just fade away and that she'd be around until the end. Not having read the last book yet (obviously, lol) I can't say for certain what will happen BUT Kim has said that she's aiming for HEAs for everyone. With that in mind, I can't see how a political marriage to Ellasbeth could in any way be construed as a happy ending for Trent. More like burying him alive...

Thank you for adding that little spoiler! I haven't been able to keep up as much as I like (have a three week old daughter!).

Good LUCK! Babies are wonderful but time is a no-go until they are at least 2!

Kind of disappointing... but I think it's good that whoever is selling the arc isn't making $400+ profit.

Me too! :-( I will not lie - I would love to have a ARC but not like that.
I will wait and speculate here with all the beautiful souls and thoughts that come bubbling up from all our stretched patience and sheer crazy rantings until 2/2014 gets here.

It should probably round out at around $100. I'm sure it'll head up toward the end. But I agree it's not been popcorn worthy, unlike THOR which I just came back from and it totally is!!

I too just saw THOR and loved it! But as I sat there I had to wonder just how many of the audience knew the Norse legends and even understood or cared about the back story to what they were seeing.

Thanks! I am learning about the no time factor fast, but so worth it!

I think I found out about the fever series (my 2nd fav) and Kate Daniels (3rd fav) from you in another thread, great recommendations! I tried the Dory books. While I really like her character and Louis Cesare, and Radu also there is just something about her writing style that makes it hard for me. Someday I will go back and reread them. I will have to look into the bloodline series. I also like the Chicagoland series for a quick and fun read.

That's awesome! It's good to know my tastes can be pretty good for the REALLY good stuff! The Dory books, I can understand people having a hard time with them. She does herself no favors by releasing them ever 2 years (if we're lucky). And I don't like her writing all the time. For instance, I love the Dory books, but I have a hard time with the Cassie books. If you do Bloodlines you should probably read Vampire Academy first, though you don't really have to. It just helps you connect a little more with the lead characters. I didn't think VA was that great but then I ended up LOVING Bloodlines so who knows. Chicagoland vamps I really liked in the beginning but I think I tapped out around Book 4.
Oh and congratulations on new mommyhood!

I have two under 7 and am now expecting my third next year... so I hear you Tina. Congratulations-and enjoy your new snuggly bundle.

Wow... I think it's good it didn't go insanely high!
If someone on this thread was the ebay buyer, I hope you love every page! TUP is just amazing!

Like Veronica, I don't think Trent will end up with Ellasbeth. I agree that she would make him majorly unhappy and therefore it is not going to happen. The question is though, if they are not together, then how will the custody situation with the children play out? I can imagine that if Trent stays single (and therefore potentially available to Ellasbeth) that things should continue to be quite civil between them; however, if Trent ends up ditching it all to be with Rachel, then I can see a whole host of unwelcome possibilities opening up, which is I think what Kim may be alluding to when she says: "but life is weird, and the best fiction mirrors that. Especially when children are involved."
My gut reaction is that if Trent were ever to enter into a public relationship with Rachel, Ellasbeth would use Rachel's demon heritage and uneasy truce(?) with the witches to argue that Rachel (and by extension Trent)is an unfit parent/guardian for the girls. Expensive custody battles, Rachel and Trent's dirty washing/shady histories and Ray's parentage made public courtesy of Ellasbeth's powerful family connections/legal team and of course, the fall-out on Trent's business interests and political standing. Of course it might not be the sort of thing that is settled through the courts (thinking of Trent's elf-quest) but then, that presumably means more attempts on Trent and Rachel's lives, potential abduction scenarios etc. Worst, I fear that Trent would be put in a position where he might have to decide who/what was more important to him-a public relationship with Rachel, or custody of his children. Yup... in some ways I am really dreading the fall out from TUP if what I think is going to happen actually happens. But then again, Trent is supposedly well-liked amongst the elves and is a leader and so on and Ellasbeth may not have as much political clout as Trent so all my speculation could simply be a storm in the tea cup... Is it February yet?

I can't get into Cassie Palmer either but I love Dory! I haven't even been able to finish the first book in the series and I've tried twice already!

"Great Minds think alike"...I too am driving myself crazy with similar thoughts. Here are some of mine:
I keep circling the ideas of Trent in Ku'sox lab saying that he knew what his priorities were now and it did not include the elf race but his own child which he gave to Rachel thinking he might have to stay with the demon. So would that mean he trusted her most with his heart too? And if Trent can make Ellasbeth meet him and Rachel in the park to pick-up and drop off Lucy then what else can he make her do...
I think Trent has more power in the elf community than Ellasbeth or there would have been more trouble before this.
What has me worried is the wild magic and the demons/dead vampires both of which have issues with Trent and Rachel. No matter what they are together these factions could tear both their lives apart.

Trent should have more power in the elf community since he stole Lucy in the elfquest but since they have joint custody, maybe that doesn't matter? Is Ellasbeth trying to kill Rachel because she wants Trent back? If so, then why did she break it off in the first place?
I know that the dead vampires don't want Trent and Rachel together because she's helping him revitalize the demon and elf races. I'm curious to see if Rachel will be able to help the vampires keep their souls after death or not.
Could anyone see Ellasbeth and Quen getting together? Is that too gross to think of happening? It keeps coming to my mind because they're spending all that time with the girls together.

Trent should have more..."
I wouldn't wish Ellasbeth on anyone but Jonathan.

If memory serves me right; Trent "granted" or "decided to share" Ellasbeth joint custody after the death of Ceri.
No one made him so that would leave him with more power and he promised Rachel a "say" on the future of his elf quest. Which is Lucy.

The only good thing about Ellasbeth is that she does seem to care about Lucy in her own way.

There are definitely some hard decisions that have to be made, consequences weighed. Rachel and Trent are sort of like the Romeo and J..."
Maybe that's why I like them so much. Having a successful star-crossed romance myself, I love those stories. The successful ones.

I keep thinking something is gonna happen to the church that will force Ivy, Rachel and Jenks to scatter. Kind of a "we may not live together but we will always be partners". But that's just my active imagination going wild. lol

Congrats. I just found out I'm pregnant and my first thought was "how am I gonna get through my readings!?!?" lol

I like that too but the real reason is that Rachel reminds me of my oldest (single) daughter so much that I am dying to get her to find time in her life for this series!

On that topic, although I want to see Trent and Rachel together, I really don't want there to be any talk of babies in the last two books. Maybe it is because I have enough of that IRL lol... I would still like to see demon babies though (I like the idea of how the mother has to curse them in the womb to determine what they look like). Perhaps Kim could write a short story or something. As long as it was after Book 13, I would even be open to the possibility of a demon/elf baby ;-)

In the end it's up to Kim, but I can't see her taking Rachel down the mommy route.

I'm sure they will...I mean would ~_^. Besides their interspecies relationship would be the perfect birth control until she REALLY wants one.

Thank you for the recommendations (people keep asking what I want for Christmas!). Have you read Ilona Andrews other series (the Edge I think)?
And thank you! Hopefully she will like to read as much as we all do someday!

Thanks, I will definitely keep those in mind! And congratulations to you as well!! I am at the stage I can't imagine how people can handle more than one!

I agree that it seems very unlikely that Trent and Ellasbeth will end up together. I like to think what goes around comes around and that by the end of the series she won't even be in a position to have any type of parental rights with Lucy. After she tried to have Trent (and therefore Lucy) and Rachel killed, (two of the people he cares about he most), I don't think Trent will tolerate it. As for how it plays out, can't wait to read it!!!

I agree and Rachel alluded to her and Jenks getting a place so Ivy could have the church in EA. I am rooting for moving in with Trent (if that is possible over the course of only one book)!

Congratulations!!!!

No I haven't read the Edge series yet. I plan to at some point, but there's just so much other stuff. I know Kate's their best of the best lol.

I want to see this too but I think it would be neat if Jenks would move into Trent's garden too!
