More ideas for medal/ trophy on the cover. These are the books the first 4 teams on the all-teams spreadsheet read for Labor 9e (same task as our 45e).

There are 19 more team spreadsheets to look at for more medal/trophy books.

I'm off to do errands and maybe some fun things (my partner's day off today) so I won't be able to read much/at all today. 15 hours!!

Reading for medal...haven't heard that it won't work. Didn't want to wait given time. If it doesn't qualify...I guess maybe we can bank it?

LOOKS SO COOL! Very much like Novel RPG.

A few questions. Rules say, " Banked Books
Books before the end of Labors may be exchanged for 1 Gold piece each" but don't address what happens with books that we finish in the 2 days in between Labors and Emerge. Can we get an answer on that?

During Emerge 100-400 page books sell for 1 gold, 400+ page books sell for 2 gold. So I'd suggest waiting to finish your books if they are 400+ pages. :D

2nd question. Rules state "◈ Levels are gained by reading progressively longer "series" of books.

Example:
Level 1: #1 in Series book (11 Attack)
Level 2: #1 and #2 in Series book (12 Attack)"

Do the books need to be in the SAME series? In Novel RPG they don't, but it might be different here.

Hi Ray - it does look so GOOD doesn't it? I played the Novel RPG last year and had lots of fun so I am really excited to try a team version!!

In answer to your questions:

Banked books: Any books that are finished after the end of Labors can be used.

Weapon Levelling - It can be a different series for each book in the level

Sorry still confused. All the banked books we have now can be sold for 1 gold (when Emerge starts). But the books finished after the end of Labors, those count as Emerge books? Or not until Emerge starts? Thanks!

Checked the TA shelf and we have the right books to upgrade our weapon all the way to level 3! Plus most of level 4, we only need a #4 book there.

Ah, OK.. sorry Ray, I didn't understand your question.. Books finished after the end of Labors are considered as Emerge the Victor books.

Currently it's not clear whether TA books would be good for gold only or if we could put them towards tasks as is - I have a question in, so watch this space. ^^

Don't worry, it's simpler than it looks!

There are two main ways to strengthen our hero. One is by reading series books to make our sword deliver more damage with each hit. The nice thing about weapon leveling is that the needed books are set - a first in series for level one, a first and second in a series for level two, and so on. At some point we'll be reading a gazillion books to get a small increase on our sword, but we can figure that out as we go.

The other way to strengthen our hero is doing quests for experience, which will increase our health. Cards are kind of like Labors 2.0 - we get five cards to start. Some are quests, where we read books for tasks to get experience and maybe some goodies. Kinda like bonus labors.

Then there's monster cards, where we fight a foe. If we defeat them we'll get experience and goodies, if we lose we're knocked out and need to heal up before our next fight.

Hmm, looking back I'm not sure if that made it any simpler, so if anyone has any questions holler!

Got an answer from the mods:

"Existing TA books can be converted directly to gold... then new TA books given after the end of Labors can be used like any player read book on any quest or other task."

It depends on what cards we draw, to be honest. If we get "read a 500+ page book" then we'd be happy to have it in reserve, but there's no telling what we'll get. Your call :)

Or we can hold onto at least some of our TA book slots, as books will be added throughout the game that we could use as is (green cover for green cover task, etc.)

Labors of Bookules is over, yea! We've moved up a few places in the standings, which is downright gobsmacking considering that other teams are finishing more books than us. Amazing job, team! Woohoo!

We now have two days to get ready for for the final WOBBLE event, Emerge the Victor - Countdown clock here . The good news is any books we finish from here on out will count for Emerge! Yea!

Check out the rules here. Emerge is a very different kind of game but it will make more sense as we go along.

To start - we have a hero that can gain experience, gold, and items by fighting monsters and doing quests. These will be on cards that we'll get once the game starts.

We can also level up our weapon and it's really straightforward - read books from series. Reading book #1 of a series will gain us level one. Reading another book #1 of a series plus a book #2 of a series will gain us level two. (Different series are okay!) Reading a book #1, #2, and #3 will gain us level three, and so on. Each level adds one point of attack to our weapon.

There's no telling what kind of cards we'll get but that doesn't stop us from planning weapon books now! To reach level four we will need 10 books total:

4 book #1 in a series
3 book #2 in a series
2 book #3 in a series
1 book #4 in a series

Is one of the books you're working on now (a whole number) part of a series? Something on your TBR that you'd like to read? Go ahead and claim it! If you're not working on a series book or don't care of series at all that's totally fine - once we get our monster and quest cards we'll have plenty of other tasks to keep us busy! Finish whatever books you want, as they'll all count for Emerge. If you'd rather take a break that's great too - a warrior needs their strength! :)
