And, yes, 7 books seems like a lot for 1 more point of damage, but it also matters a little who we are up against in weeks 2,3,4. If their weapon is much stronger, we might want to scramble to boost ours.
Or we might want to level up in order to get more HP and then be harder to knock out. So many variables!
I hope we get a nice medley of quests and monsters on our first draw.
*counting the hours* I might have to stay up until 3am on Monday morning to see our cards.....

Kazen wrote: "We'll have to see how things pan out - level seven is seven books for one point of attack. At that time it may be better to put those books towards quests and get experience, etc. We'll see! :)"

We'll be keeping an eye on it - thanks for the reminder! I'm RPG-naive but Margaret has played the single player game and is all savvy ^^b

No worries! The great thing is that we can use whatever book is finished first, no need to wait for a particular person. And we'll need a #1 for every level, so it will always come in handy ;)
I hope your trip goes as smoothly as possible, and that you have some time for fun stuff besides work!

What did you think of the reason it all happened?

Hi! just popping over from the Dholes, to check out the warriors. I love your options - this one looks ready for anything, not to mention a quiet read in his den when the smiting is over!

To start we can level our weapon! To get to level

If you finish other series books that's great too - we can bank them for future use. :)
And if you don't like series fear not - we'll be getting all kinds of quest and monster cards once the event starts!

Hi Catherine! A quiet read in the den sounds perfect, hehehe.
especially if it gets those weapon levels up!
speaking of.... I should probably get back to my book. ENjoy your sunday reading!

I have a few points on this:
The series thing is the only sure thing until we actually see what cards we get, and it's a perfect pre-challenge pursuit.
And for those of us who really like series, the easiest task without looking too hard, and there are practically infinite potential "claims", as long as we can find long series.
And at least in the regular RPG, while 7 books is a lot for 1 extra damage, quite a lot of books can be required in a quest for just one level... or less. We'll just have to wait and see what the cards look like.
I've found in the RPG, pursuing a higher weapon level is super useful, at least early on. I can kill things in fewer hits, which means that they hit me less, which means I don't have to spend as much time on quests for trying to get healing potions and can focus on more permanent bonuses.

This was a nice, cozy reread. Well, as cozy as something can be while so many people brutally die. :D :(

(Ray on 2 hours of sleep is weird...er.) Anywayyyy... yes to all the points you've made. I LOVED -- in Novel RPG and D&D -- when I got to the point where I could 1-shot kill a foe. So awesome.

I'll do a 5 or 6 tomorrow (from the hundred oaks series which are basically stand alones in the same world, but whatever) whichever we need.

There are 7 in this series...I'm fine with reading them all if it would be beneficial

I was disappointed with the ending as well...chalked it up to YA category.

I mean, the ending was underwhelming, but I didn't hate it. Some of it was kind of cute.

This paragraph clicked with me - it makes total sense. :)

Here's hoping the dead were mostly bad guys ;)

Got it! Yeah, the upper number ones are going to be hard... maybe (non-paranormal) romance series? Some can be read out of order.

Yay! :D
eta: Expanding out the goal post to level six because I can, bwhahaha.

At this moment we need both, hehehe. I'll keep the Goal post updated as well as I can to help you decide :)

Huzzah series!
Getting higher numbered books is going to be harder, so it may be good to start with that 5-9 set, if the mood strikes. :)

I don't see myself reading the book (not my genre, and not available at my library) so I do peek a little. Not always, but a little. :)

I'm thinking in 'part 4' we find out it's all just a dream...better not be a part 4!

Anyway, I'm going to try to stay up, or at least wake up around that time to see our cards and then go back to sleep, haha. Don't want to wait the 7 more hours until my usual wake up time!

As with the other events, I assume we get to choose when we "turn in" a particular task?
For example, we might finish a quest that gets us 5 XP (experience points), but maybe that would push us into the next level, so we could hold that quest until we've fought a monster; thus using up some HP before they reset. Make sense?
