A #3 in addition to your bones book sounds great! When you're done tell us here and be sure to put them on your wobble challenge shelf :)

Bety (betyplusbooks) | 211 comments I'm going to read/claim #6 in series of the Dresden Files. That way when we start needing #7 or higher I can keep reading the successive books.

I'll also want a paper-form book to read (Dresden is e-book)... I'm thinking Ink and Bone or Uprooted. But I haven't yet decided which... Hm... I'm going to go with Uprooted and claim the 'U' spot, since it will temporarily delay me starting yet another series. *Looks at TBR, which is mostly sequels as it is*

I'm currently reading Chimera (Parasitology, #3) by Mira Grant on audiobook, just because I want to get through the series, though it doesn't explicitly fit anywhere except silver, which we may just want to discard since there's not a lot people want to read for it. I'm just trying to wrap this series up! So many unfinished series...

Kazen Tammie, I was thinking of discarding Card #1 to try for a monster, but if you're interested in it we can go for it! Re: the books:

Long Drive Home isn't gray... not sure what color that tree trunk is, but it's not gray ;)
Archer's Voice - gray!
Texas Chase - not gray
Making Faces - looks more black than gray to me, but if Margaret or Rose disagree I'm willing to take it, hehe
Suite Francaise - muted colors, but not gray
The Highwayman Incident - not quite gray, I think?
Becoming Calder - gray!
The Physick Book of Deliverance Dane - brown, sadly

If you're not enjoying it and are only doing it for the challenge, drop it! We'll find something else to fill that slot, no problem.

After all, a corollary to "read what makes you happy" is "don't read what doesn't make you happy"! :D

Ray (user2637) (hugpete) | 1521 comments Hard to tell since it's so different but let's break it down a bit. Lots to think about.

We are level 2 with 25 hp and 15 atk (hopefully 16 soon). If we go against a team with our exact stats, we can only survive 1 hit before we need a potion (because we'll be knocked out on the 2nd hit). Same for that team, so I guess going first is better! (In Novel RPG, the player (i.e. me) always goes first.)

We also have a fair bit of gold, so we can buy some potions too. And I highly suspect that the matchups will be grouped into thirds (something like the thirds used for Wheel -- the higher ranked teams got harder words), so we might be going against teams ranked near us. We're 17th right now, which puts us at the TOP of the bottom third, yay! So, if I'm right, we have that in our favor.

I checked spreadsheets and the most advanced Hero in our third of teams has 25 hp and 14 atk. Most of the teams have 13 atk, and a lot only have 20 hp right now. We do have a few more days to prep though, but I think we're ahead of the game.

So... advice... I think we should shoot for leveling up once more (=more hp) and increasing our atk once more, before we have to fight a team. We can shoot for the quests that give potions and xp, or gold and xp (since then we can buy potions). We'll know more after we start fighting another team.

tl;dr? Let's level up & increase atk, leaning toward quests with potions or gold.

Kazen wrote: "People who have played the RPG - should we be prioritizing getting a stash of potions via quests? Card two's greater poison is a given (it can't be bought in the store) but how about minor heals and things?"

This one also will work for Card 2 - Acceptability - the quality or state of meeting one's needs adequately.

Faith marries Duke because it will give her a father to her children, and safety from her previous life. I'd say that covers "adequately meeting her needs" :)

I think it may be best to use this book towards that card, as then that cards is done and we get a stack of experience and a cool poison potion!!

I have another #4 book that I can read and will start now.
