Yeah, the spreadsheet makes more sense than the cards here in the thread. I'll spell out each goal in the Goal post so we know what we're dealing with.

Ray (user2637) (hugpete) | 1521 comments Questions

1. "Read a book with Circle in the title" -- Plural okay?
2. "Read a book with a title that mentions bones" -- So "bones" in the title... singular okay? ;)
3. Do we have a list of "healing" words? (In Novel RPG's similar quest, it was "heal, cure, rest, blood, or synonyms of these words".)

Here's a chart that Kelly gave Novel RPGers. It has prefixes, but also suffixes and roots mixed in. Might be helpful for...

Card 3, I have an "ab-", "pro-", or "ob-" I can read if someone wants to pair up with me. :)

No rush on any of this, I'm just up and insomnia-ing.

message 5529: by Kazen (new)

Kazen Hehe, I'm waiting while the spreadsheet sorts itself, so questions are good!

1 - For "x in the title" and "y in the text" tasks plurals and possessives are okay. Other conjugations (strange → stranger) are not.

2 - Yup, I'd take singular for that one. :)

3 - These tasks are based on the Novel RPG tasks - I'm so glad we so many people with experience! That list of words from the Novel quest looks good.

Oooo, and that chart is awesome as well. I have to look through my books to see what I have - yea tasks!

I don't understand 'ab' 'pro'...
This does look like the best card though...most xp and gold...I'm really clueless here...

message 5533: by Kazen (new)

Kazen Tammie - look at the chart Ray linked. It has examples for all kinds of prefixes and suffixes and things. We can only use prefixes for this quest, but ab- is the beginning of works like absolve, abrupt, absent, etc. The list of example words isn't exhaustive but it's a start :)

message 5534: by Kazen (last edited Oct 10, 2016 04:04AM) (new)

Kazen I'm going to claim one of the Cs in the spell it out - my current read has a character called Baldy Conscience :)

eta: But Ray has a good point, this card is ripe for discard. Hmm.

Gotcha...the word in the title needs same prefix...let me check my list...

message 5536: by Ray (user2637) (last edited Oct 10, 2016 04:02AM) (new)

Ray (user2637) (hugpete) | 1521 comments Also I suppose we should decide if we want to discard any of these cards, in order to get a redraw in ~23 hours.

I don't really feel like we know enough about what's out there yet to decide, but maybe we want to ditch the Circle card because it takes so many books...? It's 7 books for 8 xp and 1 gold. Compare to Card 3 which is 4 books for 5 xp and 3 gold -- a much better deal on a xp/book and gold/book scale.

Again, though, we have no idea what other cards are out there....

message 5537: by Kazen (new)

Kazen Oooo, that's a good point. If we were to discard one, Card One would be my pick.

The nice thing is that we get to redraw every day, so even if we get a stinker two or three times in a row we'll eventually hit on something good :)

message 5538: by Ray (user2637) (new)

Ray (user2637) (hugpete) | 1521 comments Right, and if we complete a card, it redraws immediately! :) Maybe we should wait until just before the redraw time to decide? Or at least wait until we can kill the Rock and see what that redraw is.

message 5539: by Kazen (new)

Kazen Ray (user2637) wrote: "Right, and if we complete a card, it redraws immediately! :) Maybe we should wait until just before the redraw time to decide? Or at least wait until we can kill the Rock and see what that redraw is."

Ray (user2637) (hugpete) | 1521 comments I think I found my next book. Lost Homicidal Maniac: (Answers to "Shirley") It's #4 in series (weapon leveling), horror (card 4), and has an R character (card 1). Options!

Also found a 'circle' book, one with 'bones' in title & on cover, and the aforementioned prefixes. And if The Rest of the Robots counts for a healing word, then I found one of those too. It's the right word, but wrong meaning.

I'm loaded and ready, feel free to aim me as needed.

message 5541: by Kazen (new)

Kazen Oh no, keeping a loaded Ray back is dangerous! ;)

It's going to be hard to point you in any one direction until the spreadsheet is straightened out (it's a problem for everyone, sadly) so... read what you like! :D

message 5542: by Tammie (last edited Oct 10, 2016 04:59AM) (new)

Tammie | 4553 comments Prefixes I have:
Anim...Animal
Un...unauthorized...I have 4
Pro...protecting
De...deliverance
Per...perfect
Over...overload

Would 'Am' on American be considered a prefix?
Can we put the chart link with the goals list?

message 5543: by Kazen (new)

Kazen I'm going to have to say no to the Am in American as it doesn't have the prefix meaning. :/ Chart link added to goals list, good idea!

Okay guys - I'm going to be heading to bed soon but I'm getting up extra early so hopefully the goals and things will be fixed by then. :)

Another thought would be to focus on series words that could be used for 'circle' or any other task for that matter...we could choose what's best/most needed...
